Restitution to victims of the holocaust

Law Office “Naumović & Partners” is pleased to announce its representation of the Jewish Community Belgrade in proceedings of restitution under the Law on Eliminating the Consequences of Seizure of Property to Victims of the Holocaust that have no Living Legal Successors (“Official Gazette of Republic of Serbia”, No. 13/2016).

This is the unique Law in the area of Eastern Europe and the Balkans which was adopted by National Assembly of Republic of Serbia on February 12, 2016 and which is in force of February 27, 2016. By the aforementioned Law is prescribed that the request for restitution of property shall be filed by Jewish Community and that the proceedings shall be conducted by Agency for Restitution, that shall determine all the facts and circumstances and shall issue the decision by which the request is adopted and is the property that is transferred to Jewish Community is determined, or by which the request is refused as groundless.

In drafting the Law also participated representatives of Jewish Communities, the Union of Jewish Communities of Serbia and the World Jewish Restitution Organization.
